Karen Faye White, 82

Shell Rock - Karen Faye White, 82, of Shell Rock, IA died on March 11, 2024 at home of a heart attack.

 

She was born December 24, 1941 on a farm southwest of Shell Rock in Butler County. She was the daughter of Erwin and Carrie (Nieman) Scharnhorst. On December 24, 1959 she married Howard White at the First Baptist Church in Plainfield. She worked at the Waverly Municipal Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 2003.

 

Karen is survived by her husband, Howard, of 64 years; two daughters Julie (Sam) Barnett of Clarksville, Teresa (Steve) Leisinger of Columbia City, IN; a son, Douglas of Ozark, MO; five grandchildren: Kristen (Justin) Clark, Andrew (Angela) Barnett, Kara (Jeremy) Johnson, Jamie (Chris) Elvidge, Jacob Leisinger, and 10 great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Betty Hartzell, Deloris Lindner, Kathy Ebert; three brothers: Norman, Marvin, and Don Scharnhorst; and a grandson Nicholas Leisinger.

 

Burial at the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua and a private family service will be held at a later date.
