Duane Roger Feltz, 94

Duane Roger Feltz, 94, of Allison, passed away January 9, 2026, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Funeral services will be 1:30, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. He will be laid to rest at the Allison Cemetery following the service. A public visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday February 6, at Woodley Funeral Home in Allison.
Duane was born on May 9, 1931, near Cresco, Iowa to Norman and Beatrice (Schellenburger) Feltz. He was a member of the local FFA and the Senior Class President at Charles City High School. He graduated in 1950. After high school Duane honorably served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955, stationed on the West Coast.
Following his service in the Navy, Duane attended and graduated from Iowa State University in Ames. IA in 1959. He worked as the Assistant County Extension Director of Cass County in Atlantic, IA from 1959-1966. He then worked for Vocational Rehabilitation in Cedar Rapids, IA from 1966-1976, while living in Marion. He returned to the ISU Extension Service as a 4-H Youth Director for Winnebago and Hancock Counties in Iowa from 1976-1980. He then served as the County Extension Director of Shelby County and lived in Harlan, until his retirement in 1994.
For all of his adult life, Duane was active in volunteerism, through 4-H, civic organizations and church/youth functions. He was named Harlan Citizen of the Year for his services in 1990. When he retired, he and Jo Ann eventually moved to Allison and he was very involved with Lions Club and in helping to develop Wilder Park in Allison.
Duane was a resident at the Rehabilitation Center Of Allison from January 2024 to January 2026.
Duane married Jo Ann Flessner on July 21, 1951. Jo Ann passed away in Sept.26, 2009. Duane remarried in May of 2011 to Lorna Dugan of Waverly. Lorna passed away on Aug. 8, 2025.
Left to cherish Duane’s memory are: sons Dennis Feltz (wife Sharon Cook) of Cedar Falls, Ia and Douglas Feltz of Allison. His grandchildren are Jason (wife Amy Wilson-Feltz) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Ben Cook-Feltz (wife Ellen Stanley) of Minneapolis, MN., and Andy (husband Jeff Butler) of Iowa City. He is also survived by great grandchildren Stanley Cook-Feltz of Minneapolis, and Natalie, Augustus and Olivia Feltz of Las Cruces.
Stepchildren are: Kathy Busching (husband Garry) of Waverly, IA, Claudia (husband Randy) Quigglo of Apple Valley, MN., and Gary (wife Linda Yorgason) of Blaine, MN., and several step great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Beatrice, wives Jo Ann and Lorna, siblings: Vernon, Bernice, Harlan, Loraine, Stanley and Kenneth. His surviving sisters are Beverly, Sharon and Patricia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Wilder Park or the family to be used at a later date. Woodley Funeral Home of Allison is caring for Duane and his family.
