Darwin Albert Kluiter, 72

Darwin Albert Kluiter, age 72, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Albert and Dorothy Luella (Garbes) Kluiter on April 2, 1953, at the Floyd County Hospital in Charles City, Iowa. He attended Fremont # 4 country school near his home and graduated from the Clarksville High School in 1971. As a young man at the age of 15, Darwin was saved by trusting in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ.
On July 7, 1972, Darwin was united in marriage with Eileen Kay Feckers at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly, Iowa. Darwin continued to be a dairy farmer well throughout his adulthood and also raised beef cattle and hogs. The couple lived and worked near Clarksville on the Scully farm, and then he worked with Eldon Kratchmer’s dairy farm. In 1979 he began working for the John Deere Implement in Charles City. Later he also worked at two other John Deere Implements in Waverly and retired as Service Manager at the Greene Implement. During this time he attended many John Deere Certification classes as technology improved. After working for John Deere for 40 years he continued to farm and retired in 2023.
Darwin loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed all of the camping and fishing they did together. It was either the hottest week of the year or the rainiest week of the season. The grandkids recall that grandpa almost always had to reset the breaker every time they went. Like most good farmers he enjoyed all of the home-cooked meals they shared with each other.
Darwin passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly of metastatic melanoma. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Dorothy Kluiter, his father-in-law, Fred Feckers; a brother-in-law, Kenny Feckers; and two sisters-in-law, Julie Kluiter and Darlys Kluiter.
Darwin is survived by his wife Eileen of 53 years; two children, Jason Kluiter of Clarksville, and Jennifer Elliott (David Smith) of Clarksville; two grandchildren, Ashten Elliott (Kaitlynn Jepsen) and Ava Elliott; his mother-in-law, Minnie Feckers of Shell Rock; two brothers, Dallas (Rita) Kluiter of Allison, and Allan (Darlene) Kluiter of Clarksville; a brother-in-law, Dan Feckers of Plainfield; a sister-in-law, Janet Feckers of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews
