Harold F. Kruse, 94

Harold F. Kruse, 94, of Allison, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church - Vilmar in rural Greene. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30. Harold will be laid to rest at the Allison Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home of Allison is caring for Harold and his family.
Harold Fred Kruse was born March 18, 1931, on the family farm near Bristow, son of Fred and Cena (Werkman) Kruse. He attended Brushy Mound School near Bristow. Harold enlisted in the United States Army 1952-1954 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. On June 17, 1959, Harold was united in marriage to Marlys Joan Ridder at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union, two children were born.
Harold and Marlys moved to the family farm north of Wellsburg in 1966. Throughout the years, Harold farmed, was a TV repairman and worked for Farmland Foods in Iowa Falls and Don R. Havens Company in Cedar Falls. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church – Vilmar. Harold loved farming, woodworking and using his metal detector to find coins. He and Marlys enjoyed auctions, dancing on Saturday nights, playing Bingo and visiting family and friends.
Harold is survived by his son Gary (Kim) Kruse of Elk Run Heights; daughter Judith (Jack) Ackerson of Bristow; grandchildren: Matthew, Kristopher, Amanda, Lisa, Travis and Jamie; seven great-grandchildren; sister Ida Mae Litterer and sister-in-law Donna Kruse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marlys Kruse; brothers: Emil, Elmer, Eldo, William, Herman and sister Anna Reed.
