Remembering their sacrifice - Memorial Day in Clarksville

Record high temperatures couldn’t stop the veterans of the color guard as they marched in memory of fallen servicemen on Memorial Day. They were accompanied by the Boy Scouts and the Clarksville school band in the parade from Main Street to Lynwood Cemetery.
     The cemetery was decorated with flags and flowers, and a good representation of Clarksville residents awaited the parade’s arrival.
     AMVETS commander Dan Forry served as the master of ceremonies. After Pastor Charles Underwood offered the invocation, Ethan Litterer read the Gettysburg address. The Clarksville band, directed by John Sundet, performed selections including the Star Spangled Banner.
     Pastor Jim Brown of Immanuel UCC gave the Memorial Day address. He said his dad served in the end of World War II and the Korean War.
