City seeks volunteers to tear down wall Fireworks, housing re-hab and budget discussed

At the Allison city council meeting Monday evening, the council amended the budget, discussed an ordinance prohibiting fireworks and decided to proceed with crack-filling. They also approved housing rehab bids and determined to make sure all bank accounts for city agencies are properly documented.
     The city-owned retaining wall next to The Corner on Main Street has partially collapsed. Council members said it would not be easy to fix. It was originally built years ago as an Eagle Scout project, and now the council wonders if anyone looking to do a community service project would be willing to help with taking it down in the same tradition it was built.
     The gardening club has used the area in the past to plant flowers.
     “It would be nice to take it down and have planter boxes or something like that,” said Mayor James Blockhus.
