Scout to color code fire hydrants

Dawson Holub, a sophomore at Clarksville High School, will be coordinating an Eagle Scout project to color code the city of Clarksville fire hydrants based on water pressure, City Council heard on Aug. 1.
Color-coding will help firefighters quickly identify the relative water pressure at each hydrant, Fire Chief Jon Myers said, which tells them which hydrants will fill the truck’s reservoir the fastest “so we can just go right to it and find it. It’s something I’ve kind of wanted to see done for awhile.”
The last time the Fire Department flushed hydrants, the pressure was documented, Myers said.
