Flag-burning ceremony – Allison

With Flag Day around the corner on Saturday, June 14, Butler County Veterans Affairs Director Steve Ulrichs said tattered and torn flags should be taken down and given to AMVETS, local posts or legions to burn.

“This is the time of year everybody show flags, and replaces old ones,” he said. “I wish people would look out and see if a flag needs replacing to show their pride and respect for it. Flying a tattered, worn out flag doesn’t show enough respect for the flag.”

Surrounding communities Clarksville and Dumont both have flag burning ceremonies, with the former at Lynwood Cemetery Monday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. Dumont's will also be on June 23, but at 7:30 p.m.
