Clarksville on fire

Clarksville Fire Chief Jon Myers is looking forward to a quiet 2014.

After a house fire Jan. 6 capped off an unusual year of eight structure fires, it took a toll on the department’s equipment. 

Just last week, Myers finished replacing the last broken valve on one of the trucks.

“It could just be a string of bad luck,” Myers said. “But the buildings in town are getting older, and little problems might pop up that cause that. I think it would be a good idea to have building and electrical codes [to help prevent this].”
