Wetland area to connect floodplain corridor

Butler is a wetland area.

Last week, Cole Excavating of Greene bulldozed a parcel of land near Lake Considine.

The property is a keystone to the West Fork Cedar River corridor. It connects properties north and south for a continuous land passageway.

 “This kind of connects everything together,” says Lawrence Green, NCRS District Conservationist. “It’s taking flood prone land out of production. The wetland area will slow down the flow of water to allow it to spread out over the floodplain without doing damage.”
