There has never been a day like Tuesday in Clarksville. Ask any long-time resident. Maddie Poppe’s American Idol Hometown Visit was something truly out of the ordinary, with thousands descending upon the town and the neighboring community of Allison, which hosted the concert that culminated the day’s events.
“Isn’t it a great day to be an Iowan?” Governor Kim Reynolds asked from the stage at the Butler County Fairgrounds. “How proud are we to have Maddie representing the great state of Iowa? This is what I love about this state; we stand up, and we support our hometown heroes, and we watch people from all over the state pouring into this community to welcome Maddie home.”
Reynolds announced she would sign a proclamation declaring Sunday Maddie Poppe Day statewide to encourage every Iowan to vote for Maddie Poppe.
“Let’s all do our part and make sure we take her across the finish line. She deserves it,” Reynolds said. “Just to say how proud we are of her, and I love the fact that she says to young people out there, if you dream big and work hard, anything is possible. And I believe that, and I believe that’s the opportunities that exist in Iowa.”
