CLARKSVILLE — Both Clarksville High School’s wrestlers earned state berths at the district meet their school hosted on Saturday, Feb. 14. Two of the four wrestlers North Butler sent merited the trip, as well.
Clarksville had a champion in heavyweight Skyler Popham, who said he studied hard to pin St. Ansgar’s Sawyer Hulshizer in the first-place match.
North Butler’s Caleb Wedeking defeated Hudson’s Noah Huber in the first-place match at 160 pounds.
Indian Trevor Fenneman won the third-place 145-pound match 4-3 and got a fall in the second period on his wrestleback, for second and a trip to Des Moines.
Bearcat Dalton Nelson also wrestled back at 132, finishing second, for a state berth.
State wrestling will be Feb. 19-21 in Des Moines.
