The Turkey Run 5K sponsored by the Do Gooders Club at Westside Assisted Living Suites had a better turnout than ever on its fourth Thanksgiving.
“The race was a huge success this year. We had 75 people. That’s the most we’ve ever had,” organizer Betsy Schmitt said.
Last year, the Turkey Trot had about 50 runners and walkers, and previously the record turnout was just under 60. Proceeds from the run benefit the Clarksville food pantry.
Nate Norton won the race with a time of 19:38. He was followed by Ethan Chesnut at 20:12 and Cade Ison at 21:25. Next to finish was Cade Hardy at 21:51, followed by the first female finisher, Sarah Faith Carson, at 22:16, who not only defended her title, but bested last year’s time of 22:41. Tyler Schellhorn was next to finish at 22:52, followed by Levi Enright at 23:05 and the second female finisher, Kim Sterken, at 23:16.
