ALLISON — The Butler County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved purchase of a new pickup truck.
The truck, a GMC Sierra with a topper, will be used by the Environmental Health Department. It is new to the county fleet, with the department having previously used personal vehicles for their work at a milage cost of between $600 and $700 per month.
The $27,875 cost of the vehicle had been partially budgeted for, with the remaining $12,865 taken from the general fund, which will be paid back by Environmental Health over the next three years. Board of Health Chairman Mitch Nordmeyer said the county was able to take advantage of a state discount price for the vehicle by purchasing it through Bob Brown GMC of Ankeny.
