DES MOINES – Keep climbing the ladder.

North Butler’s Haley Landers did one better than her freshman season in the discus, saving her best throw for last to earn a Class 1A state runner-up finish in the event, 122 feet, 8 inches at Drake Stadium.

What was going through the sophomore’s mind on her last throw Friday afternoon?

“I was like, ‘holy crap! Did that just happen?!”” Landers said, “because I didn’t know how far it was going to be, I didn’t even know…I was pretty excited.”
