St. Peter Quilters in Greene were hard at work this winter, and with their last meeting of the season on February 27, the 20 volunteers have completed 320 quilts.
With Thrivent Financial sponsorship, private donations and help from the church confirmation students, they also prepared 107 school kits and 33 baby care kits. All the material used to make the quilts is donated.
Many of the quilters work all year long sewing. The group met twice a week in January and February to piece the quilts together and enjoy a potluck.
Most of the quilts will be donated to Lutheran World Relief, an organization that sends the quilts, along with the kits, to poor countries.
