CLARKSVILLE — The spring Mennenga Consignment Auction went smoothly on Saturday, April 4, in rural Clarksville.
“We had a record amount of fowl" — some goats — "and a record crowd of people," said H. J. "Bud" Mennenga, auctioneer and Mennenga Auction owner. "Perfect day … The weatherman cooperated, everything cooperated."
Vehicles parked along both sides of C-33 and packed the grass lot north of the auction house. Attendees crowded around four auction trucks to bid, milled around to view displayed items, ate pork burgers served by the Butler County Pork Producers, walked dogs and pushed strollers as older children climbed on the hay bales.
