Six residents team up to make Shell Rock Veterans Memorial

Six individuals stuck together for two-and-a-half years to create the Shell Rock Veterans Memorial.

The committee of David and Bonnie Lehman, Carol Kruse, Sandy Vosberg, Susanne Deike and Donna Busch dedicated the site (west of Main Street and south along river) to area veterans on the Fourth of July.

First raising over $70,000 for the project, the committee thanked businesses and those who donated during the ceremony. Also, State Sen. Bill Dix, a native of Shell Rock, gave a speech observing the sacrifices made by locals Donny Nichols and Brad Dean, who died serving the country.
