Shell Rock City Council election: Meet the candidates

The Shell Rock Development Corporation is hosting a Meet the Candidates Night at the Boyd Building on October 24 at 7 p.m. for those interested in learning more about Shell Rock’s three council candidates, vying for two open seats left open in the November 7 election by Ben DeWitt and Jim DeWitt.
Corey Backer
     Corey Backer has lived in Shell Rock for the past 13 or 14 years. He works as a Lead Instruction Author for Almon Inc. at John Deere TIAC in Waterloo.
     Backer decided to run because he believes it’s time for younger folks to step up to the plate and take on roles in the council.
     He believes the biggest issue facing Shell Rock is high property taxes. If elected to the council, he plans to keep a close eye on the budget.
