Schmadeke Feed Mill grinds way to 80-year anniversary

Paul Schmadeke wasn’t going to get the family farm, so he had to choose a trade.

With the help of his father, Fred, Schmadeke built a feed mill on 10 acres of land north of town.

Since then, the 1930s Schmadeke Feed Mill elevator has become a landmark in town.

The third-generation family operation has grinded, fertilized and accumulated its way to the 80-year milestone.

And like the other milestones the Schmadekes passed along the way, the firm isn't about to observe this one.
