Saluting our Veterans: Wendell Lampe

Wendell Lampe joined the U.S. Navy in Nov. 1942 after harvesting the year’s crop by hand, and served for forty months.
     “I picked two pretty good-sized cribs of corn before I went in November,” Lampe said.
     He joined because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
     “Some of the boys that we knew wouldn’t come back,” Lampe said.
