Saluting our veterans - Ken Wangsness

Ken Wangsness of Allison was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951 at the age of 22. He served in the 28th Division until 1953.
     Wangsness was inducted at Des Moines and sent by bus to Camp Atterbury, Indiana for six weeks of basic training.
     There was a lot of exercise, and training, such as crawling under barbed wire with machine guns going off overhead.
     “It was tough, but you learned a lot, and I got a lot of nice friends out of it,” Wangsness said.
