A hoop shed full of hay was destroyed by fire on Tuesday afternoon, December 5.
Fire departments from Bristow, Allison, Dumont, Aplington and Greene, as well as the Dumont and Allison EMS crews, the Butler County Sheriff and Butler County Emergency Management responded to the scene. Firemen fought the blaze for about five or six hours.
“The hoop building and tarp was ruined,” said Allison fire chief Shane Carlson. “Otherwise there were quite a bit of hay bales and a little fencing.”
Garbage piles that had been burned and reignited on their own are suspected as a possible cause, but complete certainty as to what caused the blaze has not been ascertained.
