The Rolling Prairie Trail is one step closer to the ultimate goal of reaching from east to west in Butler County. This spring 5.45 miles will be paved from Allison to Bristow. Butler County Conservation workers are already hard at work clearing the undeveloped ground where the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad tracks used to run. Schneider and Associates Engineer Services will complete development of that portion of trail this spring.
Paving is also planned for the trail within the city limits of Bristow and Dumont.
These additions will increase the total length of the trail from 15 miles to 21 miles.
At the conservation board meeting October 12, a low bid of $122,866.25 was received to repair the damaged Shell Rock portion of the trail. Dirt work will begin this fall, with project completion targeted for the spring of 2018.
