Recycling: Where does it go?

  From the cart or bin to the Butler County Transfer Station, the life cycle of recycling is all about the bales — and cash flow.
  The baling machine or baler compresses various recycling materials for shipping. At a certain pressure, it shuts off.
  The bales stack up in the Transfer Station until there's enough of one kind of material for a full truckload. The size of the bales depends on the material. Using rough plastic, for instance, 42 bales can fit into a truck.
