Poppe represents Iowa at Country Showdown regional

Clarksville's Maddie Poppe represented the state of Iowa at the 33rd annual Country Showdown Midwest Regional Finals Saturday evening.

In her second consecutive regional appearance, Poppie, 16, performed original (Ooo Na) and cover (Brand New Key by Melanie) songs at Northern Lights Casino in Walker, Minn.  

As one of nine Midwest finalists, Poppe didn’t advance to nationals in Nashville, Tenn. However, after having a chord go out in the middle of her song last year, she faced the fear of it happening again, and executed.
