Pedal Pull in Shell Rock

There were 80 participants in the Peddle Pull in Shell Rock on July 4. The peddle pull has been sponsored by local farmers and entrepreneurs for the past 30-plus years. Each participant received a ribbon, t-shirt and malt certificate, and the top three finishers in each age group received medals.
“Kids love to participate. The top three qualify for the state competition in Marshalltown in September,” said organizer Jeff Reints, who works with his wife Micki and the Shell Rock 4th of July Committee to run the event. “We’ve had some state champions come from Shell Rock.”
Participants ranged from as young as two to as old as 12.
