The gospel group, Paul’s Journey, provided special music during the Sunday morning worship service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church – Vilmar (NALC) on Sept. 8.
Paul’s Journey is a Chapel Valley Music Recording Artist based in the Houston, Texas area. The ministry of the group is in its 42nd, and final year. They have earned many Top 40 radio hits and collected numerous awards down through the years. They are known for their wide variety of gospel songs ranging from the classic hymns all the way to the new hit songs heard on today’s radio.
Their performance was entertaining, uplifting and ministry-minded. The group sang an assortment of selections for the congregation, including “Come Dirty, Leave Clean,” “God Came Down,” “This Old House,” and “Amazing Grace.” Before they sang each song, members of Paul’s Journey gave brief explanations, noted the significance, and shared real-life experiences of the message each song proclaimed for the parishioners listening from the church pews.
The group concluded their performance with their rendition of “One Day.” The well-known group Casting Crowns originally took this old hymn, which was written in 1932, slowed it way down, and made it a popular main stream contemporary praise and worship song used throughout the world. Paul’s Journey sang it slower, allowing for more attention to be focused on the words, as the song shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ, salvation through Him, and the promise of eternal life for all believers. That message rang clear in the words of the song’s chorus:
     Living He loved me.
     Dying He saved.
Buried He carried my sins far away.
     Rising He justified freely forever.
One day He’s coming, O glorious day.
     O glorious day.
Owner and Bass vocalist Rod Treme reiterated the Good News in his own words, with some final advice for those in attendance.
