PARKERSBURG – The historic C.C. Wolf Mansion that stands proudly at the corner of Fifth and Bethel streets has been a landmark in the city of Parkersburg for over 100 years.
Over that stretch of time, the old house has seen many changes. Once it was private residence, then it housed the library, community hall, legion, women’s auxiliary, and it even housed school rooms for the local students. At one point, the historic structure was almost demolished, but a group of community members came together to form the Parkersburg Historical Society, who saved the old home from the wrecking ball, and took charge of its care.
Since then, the group has made it their mission to restore the beautiful, old “Victorian Lady” to her former glory through various different renovation projects.
Most recently, the group announced that they will be undertaking a multiphase renovation project on the fi rst fl oor of the home.
Phase one will consist of redecorating the study with period wall and floor coverings, and restoring the antique radiators. The estimated cost of the project is $7,395.
