Voters will visit the polls Nov. 3 for the City Election. The following filed papers at the Butler County Auditor's Office by the Sept. 17 deadline, which will result in their names being on the ballot.
ALLISON: Four people are running for three, four-year seats on the City Council. Dwight E. Poppen and three incumbents, James Blockhus, Janis Cramer and Jerry A. Platter are running. Only the current mayor filed for that two-year office, Scot Henrichs.
APLINGTON: Three people turned in papers to run for three, four-year council seats: Randall P. Hanson, incumbents Alan Meyer and Deb Jacobs. Jacobs was appointed in June 2014 and has been serving out a vacancy created when former Councilman Todd Merryweather moved to Parkersburg.
Only the current mayor filed for that two-year office, Jason Mehmen.
AREDALE: Three people filed papers for three, two-year council seats. Claudia Bolles will join incumbents Michael Olesen and Rita Olesen (who reside at the same address) in the race.
Incumbent Mayor Jack Bolles was the sole filer for that two-year office.
BRISTOW: Seven people are running for five two-year council offices. Curt Lewis, Dennis Palmer and Tim Winkowitsch, as well as incumbents Joyce Fenneman, Nancy Rieken, Shane Schipper and Kevin Snyder filed papers.
No one filed for the two-year office of mayor, so it will be determined by write-in. The current mayor is Dennis Peterson.
CLARKSVILLE: A six-way race is afoot for two open four-year offices on Clarksville City Council, as is a four-way race for mayor.
For council, voters will have a choice of two from a list of current Councilman Jeff Kolb, Roger Doty, Amy Learn, Jessica Reints, Kenneth Allen Smith and Milo LuVerne Tvedt.
Though now on the council, Val F. Swinton chose to seek mayoral office, a two-year term, on the ballot. He will face Kai Trevor Brost, Todd E. Doty and Jason Havlik, who also filed nominating papers. Incumbent Mayor David Kelm did not file.
DUMONT: Three people will run for three, four-year terms on the Dumont City Council. They are Brenda Blohm Baldwin, Reid C. Menken and Chris Showalter.
Mayor Edwin L. Mouw is unchallenged in his bid for re-election to the two-year office.
GREENE: Three candidates will seek two, four-year offices on Greene City Council, with Benjamin Backer challenging incumbents Marilyn Folkers and Audrey Smith.
James L. O'Brien has filed to seek the two-year office of mayor. Present Mayor Bill Christensen did not file papers.
NEW HARTFORD: Incumbent Gordon Ballhagen is alone in a race for two open chairs on New Hartford City Council. Incumbent Carolyn LeBahn did not file. Who is to fill the other council position for the four-year seat will be determined by write-in.
Current Mayor John Anderson filed to run again for that two-year office.
PARKERSBURG: Six candidates filed to run for three, four-year city council seats. Challenging incumbents Dan Bruns, Klint C. Knock and Leon Thorne will be Karen Anderson-Webber, Chad Buss and Melodie McLean.
Two, but not the current mayor, will compete for that two-year office. John L. Heffner and Harlan K. Schuck filed papers for the office; Mayor Perry Bernard did not.
SHELL ROCK: Mike Klinefelter will join incumbents Donald G. Bonzer, Rosalee Meyer and Edward Willert in a bid for three, four-year offices on Shell Rock City Council.
Mayor Larry Young is unchallenged in his bid for re-election to the two-year position.
Butler County cities do not participate in primaries or runoffs.
  [Write-ins are always a possibility.]
