At their April 15 meeting, Clarksville Community School Board members approved a plan to offer online credit card or check payments for registration and book rental fees through the current JMC student record management system beginning with the 2019-2020 school year. This will allow busy parents a more convenient way to manage school expenses, since parents are currently only able to make lunch account deposits online.
The convenience fees associated with the expanded payment options will be passed to the parents. The possibility of raising all fees to cover the administrative cost of online payments was discussed, but it was determined that the fairest option would be to only charge those who wish to take advantage of the new service. Parents will still be able to pay in person at the elementary or high school offices, if desired.
Principal Keith Reuter and Superintendent Joel Foster briefed Board members on a number of recent events demonstrating the school's continued commitment to providing outstanding educational opportunities for students, including the Grandparent's Day celebration and the elementary Father-Daughter Dance. Foster also remarked that the district's social media accounts have done an impressive job of keeping parents informed of school events.
“We're seeing lots of interaction on Facebook,” Foster said. “The level of engagement has definitely exceeded our expectations.”
