North Butler trio to run at state meet

CEDAR RAPIDS – When the dust cleared at Cedar Rapids’ Noelridge Park on Thursday, Oct. 18, North Butler learned that three individuals on its cross country teams had earned spots in this week’s Class 1A state cross country meet in Fort Dodge.
The Bearcats’ lone girl qualifier, Mady Klingenborg, had finished top-10 in all of her previous races, and squeezed her way in during her first year of running for coach Kirk Clark.
She finished 13th in 21 minutes, 08.98 seconds. The top-15 individuals and top-three teams advance.
“Mady kept a good pace and kept within the lead pack, fluctuating in the top-20 runners throughout the first two miles,” coach Clark said. “When it was crunch time, she made her move..."
