SHEFFIELD – North Butler refused to let any miscues get to it in the Class 1A District 6 opener against Colo-Nesco on Tuesday, July 12.
The Bearcats were able to withstand seven total lead changes in an eventual 8-7 victory over the Royals, which had just completed a season-record 15 wins.
Trailing 7-5 entering the top of the seventh inning, coach Travis Miller’s team was down to its last out when designated hitter Clay Shultz hit a slow roller to second which the first baseman came off the bag to play, leaving no one to cover and a sprint to the bag for both Shultz and the defenders.
