DES MOINES – Both Mady Klingenborg and Chase Eiklenborg improved upon their seeds going into the state track and field meet, but fell short of scoring points for North Butler.
Eiklenborg, who was throwing in the first of two flights in the discus, finished 12th with a distance of 132 feet, 9 inches, missing the final by eight feet.
He actually finished ahead of two throwers who were at his state-qualifying district meet – one of which finished ahead of him.
Mady Klingenborg, who competed in two events, including the 800, in which she was the last in Class 1A to reach the field, improved by placing 19th out of 24 in 2 minutes, 31.33 seconds.
