North Butler fourth at own tourney

ALLISON – A couple of close games for North Butler resulted in a fourth-place finish at its own softball tournament on Saturday, June 16.
The Bearcats opened with a close 3-1 loss in pool play to the eventual champion, Hampton-Dumont, giving up two runs right away to the H-D Bulldogs.
North Butler went on to trounce Lake Mills by a 20-3 score in three innings to set up a rematch in the third-place game against Class 1A No. 3 Clarksville, which won 5-2 in the two team’s finale.
“We played a couple of good games today,” North Butler coach Jeff Stirling said. “Hampton-Dumont, we played them close and they won it..."
