ALLISON – Sure, North Butler softball coach Jeff Stirling admits to putting on the safety squeeze to ensure his Bearcats a 2-1 walk-off win in nine innings against West Fork.
But he wouldn’t call it risky.
“I put it on,” Stirling said. “With two outs, it isn’t that risky a move, really. I mean, I hoped she’d get it down, but if not, oh well, we go to the next inning. So, it wasn’t that risky, I thought she’d get the bunt down. We missed some bunts, made some errors, but it’s our first game of the year – it’s kind of tough.
“She did a good job, I’m proud of them; way to battle because that is a tough pitcher.”
Because of deadlines, this complete story will run in the June 11 print edition of the Butler County Tribune-Journal.
