CLARKSVILLE – Class 1A No. 14 Clarksville’s eighth grade shortstop Cheyenne Behrends took a page out of Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Montero’s mantra when asked her thoughts for those people who thought her team hadn’t played anybody yet.
Well, the Indians indeed played somebody big on Tuesday, June 13 and came up with a surprising 3-0 win over No. 5 North Butler.
“We are good,” Behrends said. “We’re good, our defense is good, our pitcher is good. We have a really solid team.”
The ‘X’ factor for the Indians hit her second home run of the season, both against a brisk wind from left, and this one that provided a 2-0 cushion in the third inning that put Clarksville ahead for good in the first game played under new lights installed during the off-season.
The complete story will run in the June 22 print edition of the Clarksville Star.
