Plans for the North Butler High School vocational shop addition took a step forward at the special school board meeting held on February 22 as low bidders were unanimously approved. The total cost of the addition is $463,662.
Modern Builders was approved as the managing company for the project. Other low bidders approved are Wedeking Electric, Mick Gage, Schroeder Concrete, Christie Door and Black Hawk Alarm.
The addition is designed to expand the shop area for vocational technology classes. These plans have been scaled back from the original expansion plans discussed last June, which were estimated at a cost of around 3 million.
“This is just an expansion of the shop area. Due to restraints on borrowing against SAVE dollars, we decided to scale back at this time,” said superintendent Joel Foster. “The addition is about 4200 square feet, and will allow us room for safe working conditions for our students and to properly use all of the tolls that we have in a much more effective manner.”
