Milo LuVerne Tvedt, 81

Milo LuVerne Tvedt, age 81, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Marvin Vilas and Irene Frances (Rowe) Tvedt, on April 24, 1944, in Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1962. Milo served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1968. He later enlisted in the United States Army Reserves where he served from 1976 to 2004 in Garner. He retired as a First Sergeant from the military after 33 ½ years of service. Milo served in law enforcement for 12 years, with his last six years as the Chief of Police in Clarksville and later as a Unit Administrator for the Army Reserves. He also served as an EMT in Garner and Clarksville.
On August 17, 1964, Milo was united in marriage to Teodecia “Teddie” Lazarte Salabao in Angeles City, Philippines. The couple were blessed with two daughters.
Milo was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Jaycees. He was a blessing to many as he voluntarily served others by mowing lawns and snow removal. Milo enjoyed watching his son-in-law and grandson participate in Figure 8/Cruiser car races. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending any of their events.
Milo died on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Irene Tvedt; five brothers, Gary, Allan, David, Randy and John Tvedt; and a sister, Audrey Tvedt.
Milo is survived by his wife of 60 years, Teddie of Clarksville; two daughters, Amy (Jeff) Wedeking of Clarksville and Theresa (Al) Terrell of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Justin (Megan) Wedeking,
Nathan (Jeremy Brummel) Wedeking, Alison Weidemann, Adam (fiancée Sarah) Niehaus, Devin Purnell, Alexis Terrell, Nicholas Terrell and Jonathan Terrell; six great grandchildren, Reagan, Rylie, Rori, Bennett, Afton and Ainsley; two brothers, Ronald (Kim) Tvedt, of Pearland, Texas, and Jan (Becky) Tvedt of Britt, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Fran Tvedt of Fair Grove, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Milo were held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, with Father Douglas Wathier officiating. The pianist was Mollie Muntefering and she accompanied the congregation as they sang “Amazing Grace”, “The Lord Is My Light”, “Prayer Of St. Francis” and “How Great Thou Art”. Cantor for the service was Gerri Dix. Casketbearers were Justin Wedeking, Nathan Wedeking, Adam Niehaus, Devin Purnell, Alison Weidemann and Alexis Terrell. Military rites were conducted by Clarksville AMVETS Post #30. The burial will be at a later date at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville.
A visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Services in Clarksville. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
