North Butler Middle School had 91 students involved in performing the 12th annual Veterans Day Ceremony last Thursday.

From making posters to singing in the choir, the students presented the show to 39 veterans from Butler and beyond that sat in the front row. The veterans were able to view Abraham Lincoln, the Preamble skit from Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr., military flags and more.

A slideshow of 130 slides featured veterans from different generations with ties to North Butler. After the ceremony, students asked veterans questions in classrooms.

“The students get to learn that the military is more than just fighting,” said seventh and eighth grade science teacher Mary Beck, the organizer of the event. “They get to see them as regular people with interesting stories.”
