Maddie Poppe Trailhead Park

Many Clarksville residents have suggested that a street in Clarksville be named after American Idol Maddie Poppe. Renaming streets is a difficult process. Instead the Clarksville council recently decided to name the new Rolling Prairie trailhead after Poppe, if and when the proposed project is completed.
     With Poppe’s history having performed at RAGBRAI, a park for bicyclists seemed the perfect place to name in her honor, councilman Jeff Kolb said. Interpreted signage will explain the christening of the park to outsiders, something street signs could not do.
     Pending the FEMA buyout, Maddie Poppe Trailhead Park would be located where the old Baking Memories now stands. The city hopes to obtain funding for the project through a REAP grant.
     “The before and after [depictions] show a pretty cool transformation,” Kolb said.
