Maddie Poppe in top seven on American Idol

It’s no secret that Clarksville loves Maddie Poppe. Motorists on Highway 3 are sure to notice the flashing sign declaring Clarksville’s allegiance at the gateway to the community, should they somehow have formerly been oblivious to the fact. But it’s not just Clarksville or Butler County that loves Maddie Poppe. It’s not just Iowa. It’s the nation.
     The Indie/Pop singer made it to the top seven on American Idol Sunday evening with her performance of The Bare Necessities from The Jungle Book.
     Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan gave the performance a standing ovation.
     “Your voice just feels timeless to me,” said Luke Bryan. “It’s a timeless situation that makes me want to keep listening and listening. So, you’ve had it since the audition, and you’re just getting better and better with it each step of the way.”
     Lionel Richie agreed.
