Allison businessman Bill Wix has, as of the beginning of this year, officially retired from Wix Water Works, the business he founded in 1989. His son, Robert Wix, continues to carry the torch—or rather, purify the water.

Wix is looking forward to spending more time with his wife and grandkids, driving his horse and buggy, visiting the Amish, and attending his grandchildren’s softball games.

“It’s time to slow down,” Wix said. “But it’s hard to stop working. I still go to the shop two or three times a day. I don’t do much—I don’t carry salt and water, but I still go have coffee, bother Susie, and see what’s going on.”

Wix handed the reins to Robert in 2017, and had been gradually working less ever since.
