Pete and Shorty Sinram turned a tavern into a Clarksville landmark.

The brothers created a second home for men in the area.

Pete’s son, Ted Sinram, Jr., remembers the amount of smoke that clouded the place.

“I’d go in there, and you couldn’t see from one end of the building to the other,” he said. “And they talk about second-hand smoke. It was that bad. Your eyes would just water. And beers were a nickel.”

Holding legendary status in the area, Pete and Shorty’s celebrate its 80th anniversary.

Current owners Karen and Kendall Keilman bought the place in 1996.
