Kolb earns Citizen of Year Award

United States Senator Chuck Grassley, the second-longest serving senator in Iowa history, visited Clarksville High School Monday morning on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Chris Arians set up the meeting for his social studies students, with Grassley fielding questions in the West Gym. He traveled to Ackley and Conrad subsequently, as part of his 99-county tour.

“He’s an example of one person in our society making a difference,” Grassley said. “One person can make a difference…I kind of like the invitation to come to a high school, because when I have town meetings, let’s say the courthouse in Allison, you folks aren’t able to come because you have to be in school.

“So I try to go to a few high schools a year. I don’t go to too many, maybe a dozen or so.”
