Kids gather for Olympics reading program

Library Summer Olympics was the theme as Library Director Kristen Clark read children’s books related to the summer games in Rio to some 20 kindergarteners through third-graders at the library on Tuesday, Aug. 9.
Between two Olympic programs, 51 children attended, Clark told City Council. Also, 139 people attended the Blank Park Zoo “Animal Olympics” program on Monday, Aug. 8.
At Tuesday night’s program, the book, “G is for Gold Medal,” taught:
• The five Olympic rings are linked to represent different continents of the world that participate: Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America (considered as one continent) and Australia/Oceania.
