Iowa Northern Railway Co. has about 30 staffers in Butler County between train crews and administration. That's according to company President Daniel R. Sabin, based in Cedar Rapids, who spoke with nine attendees on an Iowa Farm Bureau Young Farmers Tour at Zinpro Corp. on Friday, June 19.
A train crew of two is based at the Butler Station at the Logistics Park near Shell Rock. The office in Greene generally has two people on duty and has been around 20 years. (President Dan Sabin is not to be confused with Senior Vice President Mark Sabin, based in Greene, who also attended Friday.)
Noting there's room to grow at the Shell Rock area site, President Sabin said the company aims to have a 12-track yard at the Logistics Park and would like to have a locomotive shop there.
