Iowa GOP cancels Straw Poll

  The Iowa Republican Party voted unanimously on Friday, June 12 to cancel the Iowa Straw Poll.
  Too many of the 2016 candidates opted to skip the August fundraiser for it to break even, Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kauffman told state media that day.
  Butler County Republican Party Co-Chair Ella Severs of Clarksville was one of 156 chairs and co-chairs to sign a letter last month to party candidates asking them to participate in the straw poll tradition, which began in 1979.
