Influenza circulates county

The virus peaks in December to February, as a few hospitalizations have occurred in the county due to the flu.

Butler Public Health Director Jennifer Becker says vaccination is the best defense. And it’s still not too late.

Though the public health office is out of vaccine, local doctors’ offices and Walmart and Walgreen’s have it available.

“Even if a person has had one strain of the flu, they can still get sick with the other strains circulating in Iowa,” Becker says.
