CLARKSVILLE -- Makayla Holub couldn't have asked for a better birthday present.

The Clarksville senior left fielder celebrated her birthday with a state softball berth, scoring the first of four runs and making the assist on the final out that launched the Indians to the Class 1A tournament with a 4-2 win over North Butler.

"It's the best feeling," Holub said. "I never thought in my senior year we could make it."

The Indians improved to 27-2 and will play at Fort Dodge's Rogers Sports Complex on Monday, July 17 at 5 p.m. against Belle Plaine.

The complete story appears in the July 13 print edition of the Clarksville Star.
